Bassoon

Laurent Lefevre studied at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. At the age of 18 he was awarded the Premiers Prix in bassoon and chamber music, and went on to win numerous international competitions, among them the Premier Grand Prix at the Concours International d' Exécution Musicale at Geneva. At the age of 22 Laurent Lefevre was appointed fisrt bassoon solo in the orchestra of the Opera National of Paris, a post he still occupies today. He is also very activ as a chamber musician, serving as bassonist of the Claude Debussy Wind Quintette and the Paris-BastilleWind Ensemble, both ensembles have won several prizes in international competitions ( Tokyo, Munich.ARD and Paris ).

Laurent Lefevre has made solo appearances with the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Paris Opera orchestra, the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, the St Petersburg Camerata, and the Tokyo Mozart's players. He has been invited to play at many festivals : Lucerne, Davos, West Cork Festival,West Brabant Musiekfestival, Juventus, La Folle Journée of Nantes, Bilbao and Tokyo...

Laurent Lefevre is currently in charge of the bassoon class at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon and at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Region de Paris.

Laurent Lefevre took part in the complete recording of Poulenc's chamber music with the pianist Alexandre Tharaud on Naxos, Ligeti's Six Bagatelles and Ten Pieces with the Quintette Claude Debussy and Mozart's Serenades K375 and K 388 and Beethoven's Wind Octet Op.103 with the Wind Ensemble Paris-Bastille on Harmonia Mundi.

Fut membre du Quintette à vent Cl. Debussy. ( Prix spécial au Concours International de Musique de Tokyo et deuxième Prix premier nommé au Concours International de Musique de Munich –ARD.)

Membre de l’octuor à vent Paris-Bastille.(Premier Prix du Concours International de Musique de Paris (1992)).

Titulaire du Certificat d’aptitude aux Fonctions de professeur de Basson.
Supersoliste à l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris.
Professeur au CNR de Boulogne-Billancourt 1993-1998.
Professeur-assistant au CNSM de Paris 1996-1998.
Professeur au CNSM de Lyon depuis 1998.
Professeur au CNR de Paris depuis 1999.
